Crisis on the 18 hole!
Posted on October 9, 2012, by Akashma Online News
Due to a one-two punch of a booming population and severe droughts across the globe, the Earth is in what the United Nations is calling a “water crisis”
People don’t think much of water when they play golf, except when they sit to rest under a nice shade to enjoy a refreshing glass ice water.
I personally do not find entertaining a game that involved two people hitting and following a tiny little hard ball to follow it for hours, all to sink it in a hole. Well, this is just me, boring, boring, boring game.
I beat if I ask a thousand people, if they like golf, probably a 99.99% will say NO! SO! the golf lovers will think that I m incorrect, that the answer will depend where do I ask, and I will say. Exactly! I will ask the ordinary people in the market, in the coffee shop, in the bus, the train station, the factories, and offices. Those places are where I most likely will find ordinary people.
First, they will tell you that it is a game for the rich, because usually you need to join a private club to be able to play, or to have money to rent your private time in a public golf course. The big cities have few golf courses for public use, but seriously, how many ordinary citizens go to play golf? Even if it is free, you need to have little money to buy you golf clubs, shoes, globes, and enough supplies of balls. Why? well, if you are a regular golfer and not good, you will lose these tiny balls in the lake, or so far away from your game that you just do not bother to find it.
The beautiful greenish carpet of the golf courses can not be such a beauty if it wasn’t for the billions of gallons of water they receive every day around the world.
A rough approximation of 10 billions of gallons of water daily it is needed to keep those greenish, immense fields, needless to say that those billions of water will be enough to serve at least 80 billions of people a glass of water, and not only that, but to satisfy their daily water necessities, from showers, agriculture irrigation, and drinking water .
Water crisis in the 18 hole
Some of the golf courses are maintained with recycled water, but those courses are in well developed countries. Most of the water that these giants sponges drink it is a vital liquid that kills every day thousand people and animals around the globe because of the lack of it.
